The championships have moved into the penultimate finals. Every major championship and even minor meet will test athletes mentally and physically in different ways. For Australian open water championships, the test is one of sustained mental and physical effort for the duration of the race, albeit that this may be for over two hours; however, for National Age, coping skills and mental focus are key factors. For some athletes the demands of a 6 day prelims/finals meet are extraordinary as they get themselves up, in mind and body, to race each day - which in itself is an attribute to be marvelled at.
Results from tonights finals are:
- Lachlan McLeish - 17/18 yrs 200 Back- 7th Australian
- Leo Wong - 14 yrs 100 Back - 5th
- Sian Whittaker - 15 yrs 200 Free- 7th
- Millie Simpson - 14 yrs 400 IM - 12th (2nd Emergency)
- Hamish McDougall - 16 yrs 200 IM - 10th
There were no additions to the medal count but athletes took away sone great life and racing experiences. Saturday is the last day of competition and our best wishes are extended to the athletes and staff for their achievements to date.
