7-10 Metro Finals

7-10 Metro Finals

The metro & country 7-10 Finals were held at MSAC on November 4th & 5th with four of our Flyers junior swimmers qualifying to compete against the best 7-10-year-old swimmers in the metro area & to overlay those results against the country regions.

The quartet comprised of 8-year-old Charlie Stone competing in the Freestyle, Breaststroke and Backstroke and 3 nine-year-old girls Felissia Piovillico, Sara Rogozinski and Mia Miles competing across all four strokes.

Charlie Stone is a pleasure to watch, he has one gear and its flat out with a very high stroke rate. Charlie smacked out an 8 second PB in the backstroke to finish 13th and also two 3second plus PB’s in the breast and free to finish 20th & 19th respectively. There is some raw talent & plenty of desire to be nurtured with this youngster.

Nerves got the better of Felissia in the Fly and she unfortunately broke off the block but bounced back with a 3 second PB in the breast to finish 12th. She is a big improver.

In a result that will have coaches Gus and Jack licking their lips in anticipation for future relay teams, the pairing of Mia & Sara dominated their age group claiming a clean sweep of victories across all four strokes in the 9YO girl’s events.

Sara entered the Breastroke ranked 7th but stunned the competition from lane 1 punching out a 3 second PB to win, while Mia bounced back from an ankle fracture to clean up the field winning the Butterfly, Backstroke and Freestyle swimming PB’s in each race.

Mia and Sara also backed up with relay swims for Metro South with Mia’s team also winning both the medley and freestyle relays.

Keep an eye out for the emerging group of junior Flyers talent making its way through the club as Jack and Gus navigate their development and progress.
