Squad Structure

Kings has always been a leader in stroke technique at all squad levels. We have history and continued commitment to holistic development of young athletes, assisting them to become faster swimmers and better people. Our graduated squad system provides opportunities for members to develop their

skills and compete from school level up to National level.

 

Entry to Bronze and Silver must be proficient in all four strokes and will be assessed by the head coach. Entry to Gold Squad is based on performance and ability. Swimmers will be assessed throughout the season or at the Head Coach’s discretion, to determine their readiness to progress to higher squad levels.

Bronze Squad

School – Regional Level Competitor

Bronze Squad swimmers wish to increase their competitive

participation. Squad members will develop all strokes and

gain a better understanding and knowledge in all race skills.

  • Train 3 sessions per week (1-1 1/2 hours each session)
  • Readily compete in Encouragement Meets and Club Race Meets
  • Demonstrate a strong training ethic and maintain an attendance of 80% of sessions
  • Can complete a 100m Individual Medley competently
  • Proficient in all four strokes
  • Proficient in all starts and turns and race clock use

 

 

 

Silver Squad

Regional – State Level Competitor

Silver Squad are aiming to take the step from Club and

District-based competition toward state level competition.

This squad focuses on the fine tuning of technique, increasing

aerobic capacity and understanding race plans.

  • Train 4 sessions per week (1 1/2 - 2 hours each session)
  • Readily compete in Regional Competitions and Club Race Meets
  • Demonstrate a strong training ethic and maintain an attendance of 80% of sessions
  • Can complete a 200m Individual Medley competently
  • Proficient in all four strokes
  • Procient in all starts and turns and race clock use

 

 

 

Gold Squad

State Level Competitor

Gold Squad is our high performance squad with swimmers

setting goals to qualify for State and Metro Championships

with the ultimate goal of National Age qualifying times.

Swimmers in this squad focus on stroke technique, fitness

and race skills concentrating on their race strategy.

  • Train 4-6 sessions per week (1 1/2 - 2 hours each session)
  • Readily compete in State Qualifying Competitions and Club Race Meets
  • Demonstrate a strong training ethic and maintain an attendance of 80% of sessions
  • Proficient in all race skills incl. starts, turns and finishes
  • Can complete a 400m Individual Medley competently
  • Within 5% of State Qualifying Times in two events (can be same stroke, different distance)
